SNAPPED: This filly in all of her brightly-colored glory watches over Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington Green and is always up for a photo op. Celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2015, Joseph-Beth is an independent bookstore with inviting displays of thousands of books and gifts for everyone on your list. Its two full stories are united by central escalators that look up to a beautiful domed ceiling featuring hardwood and white beams. On the top floor, visitors can explore a cooking section designed to look like a kitchen, comprehensive selections of local and travel books and accessories, a gardening section with gifts to match, and books and magazines on just about any topic that strikes their fancy. The top floor also has a great gift area featuring Kentucky themed apparel and home goods, linens by Pomegranate, totes by Vera Bradley, apparel by Life is Good, and a large selection of stationery. If you’re hungry, in-house Brontë Bistro has a full service restaurant and a coffee bar. Several comfortable chairs spaced throughout the store provide cozy areas where you can enjoy a coffee and browse a new title, including a pair in front of a cozy fireplace. The bottom floor of Joseph-Beth is devoted to kids. One side houses Baby Bundles children’s clothing boutique, and the other has all sorts of children’s books, games, and play areas. My favorite part of the kids’ area is that many children’s books can be purchased along with a stuffed animal character from the story to help a child interact with the book. If you’re looking for a gift for your Valentine, stop by Joseph-Beth and get lost browsing for a bit. When I went to visit recently, they even had a specific section full of Valentine gifts for everyone special in your life. I love that this gem is right here in Lexington, and I hope you’ll enjoy the photo gallery below!
