Photo Friday: Opening Day at Euclid Kroger

SNAPPED: The much-anticipated new Kroger on Euclid Avenue in Lexington celebrated its grand re-opening yesterday with a ribbon cutting by UK Men’s Basketball Coach John Calipari and his wife, Ellen, many welcoming employees filling the aisles and offering tasty samples, and thousands of happy customers. I stopped in to grab a single item during the lunch rush and made a quick loop around the store just because. My favorite feature so far is the “Create a Cupcake” center in the bakery. I loved going to the grocery store as a kid, and I have fond memories of being able to select the perfect cupcake with the perfect plastic toy or ring on top, just for me. I walked up to the center just as this adorable little girl discovered it. I hope choosing a special cupcake brings her fond memories like it has me!

  1. I love that in Lexington we celebrate our new Kroger with almost as much gusto as the announcement of the breeders’ cup. We celebrate life’s finer things and the simple things! I stopped by just to see it too!
