Photo Friday: The Grand Palace in Bangkok, Thailand

SNAPPED:  Today’s Photo Friday shows one of my favorite shots from a visit to Bangkok, Thailand last spring.  This was taken in the Grand Palace in the heart of the city, which is a collection of buildings that has been the official residence of the royal family of Thailand (formerly Siam) since 1782.  One of the things that struck me most about this beautiful landmark is the intricacy of each building and each decoration.  If I hadn’t taken this picture myself, I would wonder whether it was of a real place, considering the multitude of decorative peaks and buildings and the seemingly Photoshopped image of the warrior guarding over the foreground.  I can assure you that it is not only a real picture of a real place, but that it is even more impressive in person.  I hope to be able to return to Thailand again some day!
